The Saints are "Running up that Hill."While many a sumed the Taysom Hill experiment was over after Sean Payton stepped down from his head coaching post with the Saints, have happened.Hill had been in the mix at the quarterback spot during the latter stages of Payton's time in New Orleans. However, he was pa sed in the quarterback room by Jameis Winston, as they battled to replace Drew Brees, and eventually, the plan to play Hill at quarterback was nixed. However, it appears that new coach Dennis Allen and long-time offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael still have plans for Hill.MORE: Hill was converted to tight end but was used as a gadget weapon during the Saints' Week 1 meeting with the Falcons. He was one of the team's most explosive playmakers in the first half and ripped off a ma Darius Garland Jersey sive, 57-yard gain on his first carry of the day.Running up that Hill! That's 57 yds for . : on FOX: Stream on NFL+ NFL (@NFL) Hill continued to see backfield action later on that drive. He took that one for 11 yards on a power run and was able to get it into the end zone.TOUCHDOWN TAYSOM!!!!11-yd run for the score: New Orleans Saints (@Saints) It seemed like the Falcons were ill-prepared for the wildcat look from the Saints. That's part of what led to Hill's succe s.MORE: That said, it's worth noting that the Saints' offense largely struggled in the first half save for those Hill runs. Neither Jameis Winston nor Alvin Kamara could get much going, and the Saints had just 104 total yards, 70 of which were recorded by Hill. That could convince the Saints to give Hill some more action in the second half. And either way, it does appear that the 32-year-old will maintain a role in New Orleans' offense even with Payton now retired. And hey, maybe he could get a look at quarterback at some point. Winston had negative-2 pa sing yards in the first half of the game against the Falcons. Shawn Kemp Jersey |
