Seventeen year old midfielder Nathaniel Wedderburn who joined the Stoke academyle s Joshua Dobbs Jersey thanthree years ago has today signed his first profe sional contract with the club before immediately completing a loan move to League Two side Notts County. Six foot one inch Wedderburn, who signed on a one year contract,made his debut for the Stoke reserves at the age of just fourteen and has since gone on to impre s with some powerful displays in the centre of midfield for both the reserves and the academy. The local born player also featured in several of Tony Pulis match squads last season, after being given a squad number in October aged just sixteen, but failed to made the final sixteen for any games. He appeared for the first team for the first time in a friendly win away at Shrewsbury in August. He has instantly made the move down the River Trent to League Two Notts Coutny, where he has signed a one month loan deal. Lower League experience is vital for any young player hoping of one day competing at the highest level,quantified byWedderburns fellow academy product Ryan Shotton recently returning from a hugely succe sful loan spell at Tranmere Rovers.
